Munich, Germany –February 8, 2024 – Quantum-Systems GmbH, the leading Munich-based innovator in drones employing state-of-the-art multi-sensor technology, announces the release of its next-generation LiDAR scanner, the Qube 640, exclusively developed in collaboration with YellowScan for the Trinity Pro eVTOL fixed-wing drone.
Quantum Systems, renowned for its innovative approach and pioneering role in LiDAR adoption for eVTOL drones since 2016, continues to advance UAV mapping solutions with the introduction of the Qube 640, which brings airborne LiDAR productivity to a lightweight drone, reducing costs while maintaining exceptional precision.
The Qube 640 redefines data acquisition across various applications. It excels in powerline inspections, vegetation surveys, archaeological exploration, and precise stand counts in forestry management. It streamlines mining operations, by providing 3D representations that aid in volume calculations and stockpile monitoring, highlighting LiDAR’s versatility in converting data into actionable insights for diverse industries through outputs like colorized 3D point clouds, Digital Elevation Models (DEMs), and 3D contour maps.
Featuring a selectable field of view (FOV) of up to 176°, the Qube 640 utilizes Trinity Pro’s capabilities for an impressive 32 km corridor data acquisition. Operating at a 120° FOV, it boosts productivity by 50% compared to its predecessor, the Qube 240. The LiDAR sensor excels in detailing foliage and tree trunks, enabling vertical scanning and minimizing outer edge mismatches through the integration of an advanced IMU. Additionally, the Qube 640 features an integrated 8MP RGB camera for colorizing the LiDAR dataset in a single flight, streamlining data gathering and enhancing overall efficiency.
Another standout feature of the Qube 640 is its integrated 8MP RGB camera, which allows for colorization of the LiDAR dataset with a single flight. This eliminates the need for a separate flight for colorization, streamlining the data-gathering process and further enhancing the system’s overall efficiency.
The Qube 640’s tight integration with the Quantum-Skynode autopilot enables simple, autonomous operations and workflows, eliminating the need for constant user interactions. When combined with Trinity Pro’s capabilities, the Qube 640 achieves an impressive flight endurance of 60 minutes, making it the most potent LiDAR system available on a drone. It brings airborne LiDAR efficiency to customers across industries, enabling them to map the world faster and more precisely at a much larger scale.
The Qube 640 will be first shown at Geo Week 2024, hosted from February 11-13, 2024, at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, CO, USA. Attendees are invited to explore its features and capabilities by visiting Quantum Systems at booth 1041.
